Northamptonshire, archaically known as the County of Northampton, is a historic and ceremonial county in the East Midlands of England. In 2015, it had a population of 723,000. The county is administered by two unitary authorities: North Northamptonshire and West Northamptonshire. Northamptonshire is a landlocked county located in the southern part of the East Midlands region, which is sometimes known as the South Midlands.
