Ipswich Quakers description
Community Hall
Medium (1-150)
The Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) is a religious organisation, which is rooted in Christianity but also open to new light. Quakers believe that there is something of God in each person. There is no Quaker creed – it is an evolving faith that values practice more highly than dogma. Four current concerns that Quakers strive to respond to in their practice are truth, equality, simplicity and peace. We meet for worship on Sunday mornings at 10.30. All are welcome. When we come together for worship, we are not led by a priest or a minister. The Meeting for Worship begins as soon as anyone sits down in silence. Gradually the bustle of daily life lessens and the worshippers wait quietly and expectantly for guidance and inspiration from the voice of God within. This quiet may last the full hour or someone may speak or offer a prayer in response to this inner guidance.
