Built by public subscription of locally produced bricks with suscribers names etched in on donated land in 1926 for use of the communtiy hall and the reading room.
An extension was added in 1999 including disabled facilities, sports changing rooms and additional hall aided by lottery funding and public subscription.
The original building was used to billet trainee Air Men during World War 2.
