South Wraxall Club description
Commercial Venue
Medium (1-150)
The South Wraxall Club – or South Wraxall and District Working Men’s Club to use its full title – is housed in a historic detached cottage in the Lower Village. It dates from the early 1700s, has been a club since 1890 when it was opened as a Liberal Club, and became the Club we see today in 1925.
South-Wraxall-ClubAs a members’ club, the working men’s aspect is no longer a pre-requisite; anybody over the age of 18 can be proposed as a member. This gives you access to unrivalled hospitality in a piece of Old England, most of which has now disappeared. Bar
The Club is run by its members for its members and offers a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic refreshments, traditional bar snacks and the occasional special edible treat provided by whoever is running the bar.Indoors
Here’s a quote from an early rule book: “The objects of the club are to afford to its members the means of social intercourse, mutual helpfulness, mental and moral improvement and rational recreation.” If you think any or all of these may interest you, along with darts, shove ha’penny, table skittles or pool, then please come along and try it for yourself. That’s all on offer, along with an extremely warm welcome and the exclusivity of a club that probably only exists in one or two other similar places in the country.Outdoors1
New members are always welcome and we are also able to offer associate membership to visitors staying in or around the village for holidays. We have a busy social calendar including major sporting events on our big screen, fund raising walks, barbecues and wine tastings to name but a few, which are all organised by and supported by our membership.
