In April 2011, South Derbyshire District Council started a seven-year partnership with charity Active Nation in a bid to get more of its residents active. Active Nation is a 'not for profit' charity where every penny spent at the leisure centres, will be reinvested to further improve the health of the community and to inspire and motivate residents to get fitter and healthier. The partnership will significantly enhance the facilities at the centres through a major investment programme spanning over the course of the contract.
