Set in the beautiful Derbyshire Peak District location close to stunning landmarks of Chatsworth House and Stanage Edge, the Derwent Gallery nestles in the Hope Valley next to the River Derwent and Padley Gorge. Drawing from work by local artists the gallery presents original paintings that reflect the glory of the White and Dark Peak surroundings of moorlands and edges, rivers and village scenes. There is a bold mix of contemporary and traditional styles in a range of media by artists including paintings by Kristan Baggaley, David Stowe, Richard Clare, Hazel Lale, Gareth Buxton and Michael Moore. Landscape photography is a notable element of the gallery featuring books of photography by Fran Halsall and Karen Frenkel as well as their framed photographs. Robin Ashmore exhibits his own photographic work from the gallery whilst working in his occupation as a bespoke picture framer handling all sorts of works of art including specialist framing of embroideries and fabric art. The gallery host regular exhibitions throughout the year with details appearing in the gallery website.
