Until 2007 the village of Wensley lacked any community meeting place. A successful application was made to NYAGS (North Yorkshire Aggregates Grants Scheme) to construct a new timber multi-use sports pavilion which incorporated many energy saving features including a ground source heat pump, an air recirculation unit to capture hot air in the roof space to be reused in the heating and hot water systems, and high levels of insulation. The new hall is being used for a wide range of activities - sports and health activities, village events, luncheon club and coffee mornings for elderly residents, art and book clubs, talks and workshops, and voting.
