The Great Northern is a 19th Century Coaching Inn in central St Albans, close to the station and the city centre. We serve freshly prepared home-cooked food using seasonal locally sourced produce alongside a fantastic selection of real ales, ciders, wines and spirits.

We can cater for up to 40 guests in the interior, with the capacity to cater for another 40-80 in the garden, depending on seated or standing, with an outside bar and marquee available. Exclusive use of the premises is offered on weekday daytimes, with areas inside the pub or sections of the garden available at all other times.

Popular for birthday and engagement parties, christenings and charity events we also host corporate events such as team meetings, or staff meals and parties.

We are in the Good Beer Guide 2019 and won 2017 Best Restaurant for Everyday Dining in the St Albans Food and Drink awards.
