In L'Arche, people with and without learning disabilities share home life in ordinary houses, much like any family. Shopping, cooking, sharing a meal through these simple daily things, people learn and grow.

Mutual relationships are at the heart of our community, and our daily life reflects this. There are often lots of visitors in our homes, and we love to celebrate. When someone has a birthday we might have a themed party to reflect the person‟s interests. For each person we take opportunity to give thanks for their life, and to tell them what we appreciate about them.

We all take responsibility for the house we live in, sharing house chores and making decisions together during house night on Mondays. We are involved in the local area, through our churches, the college, the pub or the video hire shop. Our families and friends live in the neighbourhood as well. We gather together as a community on the last Friday each month.
