The History of Snape, which was touched by both the Roman and Norman conquests, can be traced back for over 2,000 years. Anglo-Saxon Snape achieved a greater significance as a burial place which may well have been used by the rulers of East Anglia, the Wuffings [most likely of Sutton Hoo fame], whose palace was nearby at Rendlesham.
