Ashford War Memorial Institute is located just outside Bakewell in the beautiful village of Ashford in the Water. The site was gifted to the village by the Duke of Devonshire and was officially opened Saturday 28th September 1929. The Duke 'hoped that the Institute would not only be a memorial to the great war but also of the war before'. We take great pride in our village hall and we welcome anybody who would like to help us keep the memorial building going and also join our committee. You do not have to live in the village and you can be involved as little or as much as you like.

We currently have many events and groups here at the AWMI. Adult Education classes, Floristry, Snooker club,WI, Tae Kwon-Do, Boxing Boot camp amongst others. The hall is also a popular place to hold meetings and charity events. We also take private bookings for weddings, Christenings, birthday parties etc. We have our own parking area. Facilities include a good sized kitchen,and a separate bar area. If you would like to take a look at our hall or be part of our team of volunteers please contact us.
