The Village Hall is the hub of social life in the village with activities arranged for all age groups. It holds a Hallmark Three Award (the highest available) from the Community Council for Somerset and has won the West Somerset Pearce Shield for outstanding achievement on three occasions, 2007, 2010 and 2014.
The local school and playgroup are regular users and an enthusiastic Short Mat Bowls Club now competes in the local league. The Hall is able to cater for a wide variety of public and private functions, including weddings, parties etc.
Facilities
Built in 1976, the hall was extensively refurbished in 2006. The extension to the hall has provided lockable storage space for all furniture and equipment, leaving the entire floor area free for the safe enjoyment of activities.
Access for the disabled has been greatly improved by the provision of a ramp. A toilet for the disabled has been installed and men’s and women’s toilets completely renovated.
The lighting is provided by twenty-four downlights, which allows users to select the lighting arrangement of their choice. All users are able to enjoy various functions and activities in a bright, attractive environment.
The kitchen has been fully modernised to include two ovens, three sinks, a large fridge , a microwave, a plumbed in water boiler for hot drinks and a commercial dishwasher. The use of white plates, cups, cutlery , etc is included in any hiring fee.
The Hall has a drop down film screen, a projector and heavy curtain so that films can be shown or presentations given.
A PA and Hearing Loop system is available to users.
