Description
Old Gala House is a composite building which has been added to and altered over a period of more than 400 years. The house has been a museum site since 1988.
As well as the permanent collection, there are three main spaces which cater for a changing programme of Fine Art and historical exhibitions: the Christopher Boyd Gallery; the Pringle Gallery and Cafe and the Museum Room.

Venue hire
It is a very popular venue for meetings and societies and the meeting rooms have all been named after places or families associated with the town of Galashiels. The Scott Room is also a superb setting for many weddings throughout the year. The house and grounds are used annually as the venue for the Graduation celebrations of the Borders campus of Heriot Watt University.
Gift shop
A small retail area selling reasonably priced gifts, books and souvenirs is located in the Pringle Cafe.

Laird's Room - Pop up exhibiting space. The Lairds Room is an exciting new "pop up" exhibition space which will showcase artwork and museum exhibitions throughout the season. Access and facilities
Ramp at the rear of the building for ground floor wheelchair access. Upper level accessed via two separate stairways and disabled access via a stair lift. Toilet facilities, including disabled toilet, are located on the ground floor.
