A listed building with its original name, was the first coaching inn within a village designed on behalf of the then Duke of Buccleuch in the late 18th century as a result of the Scottish Land Clearances of 1790. Situated within Douglas Square it has ample free parking. Well known for its excellent food, accommodation and a warm welcome, the Grapes Hotel and Vine Restaurant is the perfect venue.

Breakfast is served each morning at The Grapes Hotel. The restaurant offers a high-quality menu showcasing Scottish and Cumbrian produce. The hotel has 4 bars where guests can enjoy drinks and snacks.

We source as much local produce as possible. We are currently offering Champion Bred Dexter Beef from our local Cleughside Farm. It is really excellent and worth a trip to The Grapes. Another source of beef is Shaws Farm Newcastleton, again excellent beef, look out for the next delivery.

Newcastleton is around 25 miles north of Carlisle, and around 1 hour’s drive from Dumfries. The Northumberland National Park is a 45-minute drive from the hotel, and Gretna Green lies around 20 miles away.

The Grapes Hotel in the Scottish Borders makes a great wedding venue or ideal place for an anniversary, birthday party or family and friends get together.

We are licensed for wedding ceremonies and also very close to the famous Gretna Green. If you have your wedding service there why not come to The Grapes for an excellent wedding meal.
