Only 125 metres over the hill from the Bunkhouse, it seems like a world away, as you come upon a truly awesome sight; a Celtic Iron Age Roundhouse. The Roundhouse is Marthrown's "Jewel in the Crown". It's an amazingly atmospheric wedding venue, a perfect party venue and has stunning vista's all around. It's one truly magnificent setting, whatever the occasion. As an added bonus the state of the art composting toilet, hot shower and fully equipped cooking shelter add "five star" Iron Age facilities.!

Marthrown Bunkhouse has a total of 26 bed spaces spread over 4 rooms:
Nith bunkhouse has a cosy lounge with a wood burning stove for those chilly evenings where you can gather round and chat. There is also TV, DVD player, a selection of films and wi-fi connection.
The Esk /Annan Veranda has a wood burning stove which heats radiators in those two bunkhouses as well as being a nice place to sit and chat!
Bottom sheet, pillow and pillowcase are provided. Duvets and bath towels are available on request ,though we prefer guests to bring their own, as being in an off-grid eco-friendly location, doing the laundry is a little more challenging...
There is a well equipped self-catering kitchen and large dining room for you to use, both to cook, eat and congregate in. Outside there is also our hot tub, sauna and covered BBQ area.

The first thing you notice about the wild camping area is the view. Imagine coming out of your tent first thing in the morning, to stunning views over to the Lake District in all its glory, or star gazing at the stunning dark skies!
As part of the site there is a private outdoor hot shower, 2 dry composting toilets set in rustic wooden buildings. Washing up area and cooking area. There is a covered and lit BBQ area for use on the front lawn near the hot tub and sauna. The camping area is located about 75 yards from the car park and we provide wheelbarrows for transportation. Seasoned campers have referred to this site as having the joys of wild camping with the convenience of facilities, and no risk of being moved on, whatever the occasion.

Yurts: For a very special experience come and stay in one of our yurts, you won't want to leave! We have two Mongolian Yurts which are very popular with couples, small groups and families interested in "Glamping" in Mabie Forest in Dumfries and Galloway, Southern Scotland.
Family Yurt: Suitable for groups up to four for a comfortable stay with stunning views over the Solway Firth over to the Lake District Fells, .
Couples Yurt: Perfect romantic getaway, forest walks to get lost on, it's own private hot shower and only a short distance from the hot tub and sauna.
The centrepiece of both Yurts is a very effective wood burning stove perfect for a cosy evening in.
Both Yurts are tucked away in their own secluded areas with BBQ and their own picnic table.
