The Manor Country House Hotel description
Hotel / Conference Centre
Medium (1-150)
Set in beautiful private grounds, this charming, 200 year old country house hotel is situated in the village of Torthorwald, four miles from Dumfries on the A709 and eight miles from Lockerbie with easy access to the motorway network.
The Hotel overlooks the ruins of Torthorwald Castle, which was originally owned by Sir David Torthorwald in the 13th Century.
It is managed by Ken and Caroline Hutchison and their daughter Jacqui. Their aim is simple, and that is to ensure that whether their guest is here to either take advantage of the extremely welcoming overnight accommodation in one of the well appointed en suite bedrooms, to sample the food from the exhilarating menu in the restaurant or the bar, to simply have a quiet drink, or of course a combination of all them, that the experience persuades the guest that it should not be too long before returning once again.
The success of the business is of course more than that however, and in no small way is due to all the staff that work at the Manor, as they all play a vital part in not only in the front of house, welcoming and looking after the guests, but just as important working in different roles behind the scenes.
