Tynemouth Golf Club celebrated its centenary in 2013. This year the Ladies section under Ladies Captain Kim McKenna celebrate their centenary. Tynemouth is one of the most attractive and satisfying parkland golf courses in the north east. This par 70, 18 hole course is situated only minutes from the coast close to the historic village of Tynemouth. The course offers a very fair challenge to all levels of golfer and the fact that the course record of 65 is the best any golfer, professional or amateur, has managed so far, suggests the course is not as simple as it first appears.
Facilities on offer include, changing rooms, equipment and buggy hire (best to book in advance), three practice areas, a well stocked golf shop and a clubhouse with a bar and restaurant.
Visitors are very welcome to play on weekdays and Sunday afternoons, Saturdays are also available but playing restrictions are applicable. An online booking system, available to members and visitors, makes tee booking simple and reliable.
Club membership, both full and flexible playing scheme, offers opportunities to play in weekend and midweek competitions, and attend numerous functions including dinner dances, BBQs, wine tasting and other special events. For the very competitive, our club team won the most improved team award in the Newcastle and District Golf League and is always looking for good players. We have a thriving Senior section (over 60s) who compete in a seniors league, as well as a Ladies and Junior section. We are well represented by our boys and girls at junior county level.
John McKenna our resident professional, listed as one of the top 100 coaches in the country, takes tremendous pride in assisting and developing golfers from the very young to the Professional.
