The Abbey is a privately owned, family run hotel and we pride ourselves on our friendly service and comfortable guest rooms in which to relax or work. A good night’s sleep is followed by a bespoke breakfast, cooked to order by our wonderful chef, using the finest locally sourced ingredients.

A five minute stroll from the Cathedral and town centre amenities fo Bury St Edmunds, the Abbey Hotel is an urban retreat, a calm haven, combining a wealth of original features with the modern comforts twenty first century guests expect.
Each room is unique, with restful colours and carefully chosen furniture to suit the age of the buildings in this medieval and Tudor setting. Sizes range from our three snug, classic rooms ideal for shorter stays and single occupancy, to larger rooms with sitting areas, to suites. A converted barn which has the bed on the mezzanine level and the sitting room, kitchenette and bathroom on the ground floor is in contrast to its original use.
There are eight guest rooms in the Tudor building, arranged on the first and second floors, together with the Hotel reception, breakfast, drawing rooms and office on the ground floor.
In the Medieval building are two ensuite bedrooms and two lovely, spacious suites.
St Botolph’s cottage completes the accommodation. This delightful detached cottage has been converted from a small barn to provide a unique spacious and unusual suite of rooms.
These three buildings surround the courtyard carpark and garden reached via a short driveway leading from the road.
As you would expect, car parking and WiFi are complementary for guests, with on site and professional laundry facilities available on request.
