WHO WE ARE

Co-owned by Ruth Watson, David Watson and Tim Sunderland, the Crown and Castle has 21 bedrooms and a lively bistro which serves decent, unpretentious food. Although we are officially classed as a hotel, we tend to think of ourselves more as a restaurant with rooms, our public space being very limited. Our desire is to offer thoughtful, unstuffy service and to provide a truly relaxing, unstressed atmosphere. We welcome a limited number of dogs in five designated garden rooms and children over 8 years old are also welcome. The Crown and Castle is open all year round for accommodation, lunch and dinner. Bed and breakfast terms are available from Sunday to Monday but Friday and Saturday is only sold as a 2-night dinner, bed and breakfast stay.
The Crown and Castle hotel is situated in the heart of Orford, a peaceful village just a few miles south of Aldeburgh, on the beautiful Suffolk coast. There has been a hostelry on the site for eight centuries. The original inn was, apparently, built into the walls of the C12th Orford Castle but is now separated from it by a little lane.
