The Seacliffe Hotel description

Hotel / Conference Centre

Medium (1-150)

The Seacliffe, standing on Whitby’s exclusive North Promenade, offers guests accommodation in an unrivalled location, overlooking Whitby beach and harbour entrance, with breathtaking views from Sandsend to Whitby Abbey.

17 fully refurbished en-suite bedrooms, a fully licensed Bar, a comfortable Lounge & a large Dining Room, a car park, plus a relaxing & peaceful sea-front position, makes the Seacliffe a popular choice for the visitor looking for Whitby holiday or business accommodation amongst Whitby Hotels and Guest Houses.

The Seacliffe is amongst the select group of Guesthouses and Hotels in Whitby that are able to offer their guests off-street car parking, plus Bed and Breakfast ( B&B ) with the option of an evening meal ( BB & EM, DB&B ), if required.

An extensive menu from traditional Sausage & Mash or Whitby Scampi to the more exotic Fillet Steak with Surf & Turf or Seafood Mornay, is available each evening, accompanied by an excellent wine list – but please book in advance to avoid disappointment! Why not relax in our comfortable, fully-licensed, Lounge-Bar after your meal?

The Seacliffe has its own small Guest Car Park with private parking for up to eight cars, plus additional motorcycle & scooter parking. There is also free on-street parking available along the North Promenade.

Of course, with Cleveland Way walkers passing our doorway, we are also ideally placed to offer rest and hospitality to those visitors to Whitby who have no parking problems!

Whitby
Whitby is regularly featured as one of the most popular tourist destinations in the United Kingdom, attracting visitors from across the globe to the ancient town, alive with quaint taverns, shops, restaurants and art galleries.

The Seacliffe is close to the Spa Pavilion, the Cliff Lift, the West Cliff attractions and Whitby’s Cricket, Golf and Football clubs.

Nearby, the extensive Pannett Park Museum and Art Gallery, containing many items relating to the voyages of Captain James Cook and also, some beautiful examples of Whitby jet, underlining the town’s seafaring heritage and place in shaping the destiny of England.

Only a few minutes walk along the scenic North Promenade is the historic town and bustling harbour, overlooked by the world famous medieval Whitby Abbey, with its 199 steps, that is forever associated with Bram Stoker’s novel, Dracula.

North Yorkshire
From The Seacliffe, a leisurely stroll along the beach (tides permitting) takes you to the tranquility of Sandsend, whilst Runswick Bay, Staithes, Robin Hood’s Bay and Goathland are a few minutes drive by car. A little further afield are Scarborough, Helmsley and York.

The heart of the North Yorks Moors National Park is known locally as Heartbeat Country – named after the popular Yorkshire TV series, Heartbeat, based around Goathland ( Aidensfield ) and Whitby ( Ashfordly ). Another famous TV drama, The Royal, is filmed in and around Scarborough and Whitby.

The North York Moors Steam Railway ( NYMR ), seen in the Harry Potter films as the Hogwarts Express, regularly runs across the moors between Pickering & Whitby. The railway passes close to RAF Fylindales UK, once, but no longer, famous for its gigantic early-warning radar domes – the iconic Golfballs.

The ancient market towns of Thirsk (Darrowby), Northallerton, Pickering, Stokesley and Bedale are the centre of Herriot Country named after the famous vet of that name.

Whether you are planning a short Whitby weekend break, or a longer holiday, The Seacliffe will provide you with an excellent base for exploring and enjoying some of the most interesting and beautiful places in England.
