Since opening in 1990 Stratton's has developed from a rundown, private, listed building into a quality award winning boutique hotel with a reputation for strong environmental ethics.

Strattons is set in Swaffham, a thriving and bustling Norfolk market town located in the fascinating and historic Brecks. Swaffham remains the elegant architectural gem it was in its Georgian heyday, with many Georgian and Victorian façades concealing the medieval originals. Strattons sits in a quiet, concealed yet central private close in the town, an ideal base from which to explore Breckland, Norwich, King's Lynn and the coast.

Each of the 14 bedrooms and suites is a unique haven; all of course include luxurious private baths and showers.

The main hotel hosts 5 doubles and 3 suites; the lavish 'Boudoir' suite; quirky 'Edie' and the 'Red Room suite', with its carved four-poster bed, sumptuous fabrics and tented bathroom. The double rooms are all individually designed; the theatrical open plan 'Linen' room with a huge decked balcony, the opulent 'Fantouche' with its Louis XIV carved bed and small balcony; the funky 'Seagull' room; the original and south facing 'Venetian' room and the 'Portico' room with its large tub surrounded by a mermaid mosaic.

The main Villa has been the subject of an intense restoration programme using local materials and craftsmen and reusing as much salvaged from the site as possible. The Venetian windows were once stone; the only evidence of this today is the chunky stone sills although parts of the original arches were found in the grounds as part of a rockery. The installation of art has been a key factor in not only enjoying the building but supporting local artists and tradesmen and securing the long term future of the site for future generations.

Opposite the main building are 2 private suites, the Stalls suite, romantic, original and created from an old stable; the Opium suite formed from an old groom's cottage with its tranquil creams and whites where the freestanding bath sits at the end of the bed with room for two.

Behind these suites is the newest addition to Strattons formed from an old printing workshop and cottage formally owned by The printing company of W J Coe, founded in 1885 by William John Coe - a member of a long established Swaffham family. The development offers 2 self contained apartments, 2 more hotel rooms and a Cafe Deli selling real local produce. The comfortable, slick 'Print rooms' are 1 bedroom apartments complete with cinema screens and surround sound. CoCoes one is a large double room with a copper free standing bath at the foot of the bed; while CoCoes two, a double room, has an Italian carved bed and views of the church roof top.

The hotel is a blend of comfort with beautiful things collected and loved over the years by owners Les & Vanessa. An environment that is glamorous, yet we hope will put people immediately at ease.
