The hall is available for hire at a modest charge. Tables and chairs can also be hired for private functions.The hall has space to accommodate events of up to 100 people. It is stone built with a traditional slate roof. The building is Grade 2 listed owing to the historical brewing connection. The basic fabric is in good condition and a substantial programme of modernisation was carried out 15 years ago which included new wooden floors, improved heating and a hearing loop. There are two main rooms, the hall and a smaller room known as the ‘Supper Room’. A small kitchen leads off the Supper Room. This has a stable door and provides an effective and secure counter facility for the weekly Post Office on Tuesday afternoons.

A wide range of activities take place in the hall, including in recent months aerobics and yoga classes; after school/toddler sessions; an art class; seasonal events such as the harvest supper, wreath making at Christmas, a Christmas fete; committees such as the Melbreak Communities Planning Group meet in the hall; the Parish Council meets at the hall; and from time to time the hall is used for local, national and European elections. The village primary school makes occasional use of the hall for projects and other activities.
