Rutland Water Nature Reserve lies south east of Oakham, the county town of the ancient county of Rutland. See interactive map below.

From the west, the reserve is reached via the A6003 from Uppingham or Oakham. Coming from the east, use the road from Stamford (A606/A1). There is a car park for nature reserve visitors only. The cost of the permit to visit and walk through the Reserves includes the parking fee.

Or why not come by train? – Oakham station (2 miles away) is served by an excellent east-west service running between Stansted and Birmingham, including principle connecting services at Peterborough and Leicester.

Dogs: to safeguard wildlife, grazing sheep and cattle, dogs are not allowed on the Egleton side of the Reserve. At Lyndon, dogs are allowed, but they must be kept on a lead.
