After a few months of searching we took over Gerrard Winstanley House and former County Court Buildings on Crawford Street in Wigan Town Centre.
With the help of volunteers and a small team of local staff we have been trying to create an arts hub by transforming the building into a mixture of venues, workshops, rehearsal rooms, music studios, performance space and our latest projects; WAC (Wigan Arts Centre) and Wigan Community Theatre.
Not many people are aware that we are a community interest company and that 100% of our profits go back in to the project, the arts, the community and the up keep of the facilities. Profits support arts and wellbeing activities including: drama classes, School of Rock, Over 50s Jamming Sessions, music therapy, crochet and felt workshops as well as supporting creative business and individuals who want training and work experience.
We believe we can make a big difference to Wigan and the local arts scene. We really want to engage with likeminded people who want to get involved in The Old Courts so if you have an idea or thoughts on our facilities and activities please get in touch.
