The Ypres or “The Wipers” as some people fondly call it was built in 1860 and is situated in West Street at the end of Sittingbourne High Street. From 1860 until approximately 1964 the pub was called The Railway Tavern, however the name was changed to The Ypres in 1964 when Sittingbourne was twinned with Ypres in Belgium. Since December 2013 The Ypres has been run by Darren & Debbie Rousell who are both local and have spent most of their lives in Sittingbourne. The Ypres is a traditional pub and we try to provide something for everyone, we have live music every weekend, pool, darts, a charity quiz night once a month, BT Sports and Sky Racing and there is also a private function hall available for hire, whatever you reason for visiting us, you can be sure of a warm welcome and some friendly “banter” from Debbie, Darren & the staff.
