Set in tranquil gardens this truly remarkable Grade I listed Elizabethan house is an unexpected treasure in the heart of Barking. Completed in 1573, Eastbury Hall, as it was formerly known, was built for Clement Sisley and his growing family. This rare example of a late 16th-century brick-built gentry house tells an extraordinary tale of survival. Threatened with demolition, the National Trust, who recognised its significance, made it one of its early acquisitions in 1918.

Today, Eastbury is home to a wide range of education, arts, heritage, commercial hire, and community activities. We host themed Family Fundays and have a varied programme of events and workshops. We are open to the public Thursday and Fridays from 10am to 4pm and Sundays from 12noon to 5pm.

Our listed house and its historic rooms are available to hire for a variety of events and functions, including: conferences, receptions, special anniversaries, Mehndi parties and private afternoon teas. We are also a licensed wedding venue and host civil ceremonies for up to 120 guests.
