The Electric Palace is a 500-capacity art deco gem, straddling the chasm between the pomp and volume of a heavyweight show and the intimate atmosphere of a club. Since becoming a full-time live venue in 2008, the Palace has welcomed names from The Kills and Gruff Rhys to Grandmaster Flash and was home to PJ Harvey and her band for a month-long pre-tour rehearsal. The independently run Grade II-listed masterpiece, completed in 1926, has become a magnet for the thinking band and their fans. The opera house acoustics have an uplifting effect on performances – and performers.
With a year-round programme of live events covering music, comedy and screenings, the Electric Palace can accommodate an audience of 400 seated (of which 110 on the balcony) or 500 standing with some of the original red velvet seating removed. The dance floor is part raked, allowing a good view of the stage whilst providing enough dance space to really let loose.

Our 1920s theatre has a large auditorium with original seating and lighting. It offers you excellent facilities for a wide range of events – everything from wedding and birthday parties to AGMs and conferences, from fund-raisers and festivals to board meetings and team away-days.
