Whether you join us for an hour at the bar or a few nights in the Hotel, at the Uplands we want to provide all our guests with a home from home experience in the Lake District.

Our fantastic location makes us a great place visit. The Uplands is in a quiet spot with stunning views, less than a mile from the centre of Cartmel and Grange-Over-Sands, and within 15 minutes of Lake Windermere. This makes the hotel and restaurant the perfect spot to visit the popular sites of the South Lakes whilst still being able to retreat to peace and quiet on an evening. Those visiting the restaurant also have the benefit of the stunning views from the dining room windows.

From the bedrooms to the lounge and restaurant, we provide comfortable facilities for all guests to enjoy. We are constantly striving to maintain and improve the facilities for the benefit of our guests. In recent months, we have built three new superior bedrooms and extended our patio to provide more outside seating for guests. This patio includes bespoke tables and a one-of-a-kind fire chimney built exclusively for the Uplands for guests enjoyment on an evening. In the coming months we are looking to redecorate some of our bedrooms so keep an eye out for the latest photos.

To help you relax we have welcoming, friendly staff providing informal but efficient service. Beyond serving at the bar, waiting tables and servicing your room, our staff are always more than happy to chat about your day and are knowledgable on the local area so can help with everything from booking taxis to finding things to do.

The restaurant at the Uplands provides delicious, home cooked food seven days a week. We want to provide our guests with homemade food that people can take their time to enjoy. As such all of our dishes are freshly prepared with locally sourced ingredients. At busy times this can sometimes result in a slightly longer wait but our guests are understanding of this. Our menus are changed regularly, always featuring a mix of old favourites and our Chef’s own takes on the modern classics. Most importantly our very own Sticky Toffee Pudding is served daily and is available to take away!
