Designed to be as environmentally friendly as possible incorporating Passivhaus principles, the leading international design standard for low energy sustainable buildings. The building is a working classroom of green technology demonstrating the various approaches to building design, construction and use that can be taken to reduce energy demand and CO2, thereby protecting the immediate and wider environment. The main hall is 123m2. It has oak flooring and is naturally light and warm with full length double aspect triple glazed windows. Ceiling downlighters can be dimmed for ambient lighting. A front reception area has café tables and chairs for 12 with a serving hatch to the kitchen. There is fully disabled access.
