Bell House Hotel description
Hotel / Conference Centre
Medium (1-150)
The Bell House is a privately-owned 17th century hotel steeped in history and charm and is the perfect place to relax and unwind with family and friends. Our fine selection of beers, traditional real ales and extensive wine list can all be enjoyed within our grounds. Whether you are dining al-fresco in our gardens, in our dining room, the private dining area, or simply cosied beside one of our open fires, whichever your preference, you will be following in the footsteps of our country’s Royal Heritage.
At the heart of our business is a team of experienced chefs and young staff; all overseen by our general manager, Chris Williams. Chris, who has an enormous amount of experience, was instrumental with the setting up of Harvey Nichols’ London restaurants Oxo Tower and Prism and, until recently, was part-owner of the award winning El Gato Negro in Rippenden, Yorkshire. El Gato Negro was awarded best local Spanish restaurant in the 2009 series of Gordon Ramsay’s F Word. Chris prides himself on his staff training and works with some of our local youngsters to provide a fresh and efficient service.
The style of our food is traditional British, influenced by all that is seasonal and available locally. All our produce is of the highest quality. Our meat is sourced locally from family butchers, Walter Rose, and our fish supplied by Kingfisher of Brixham. Our cured meats and smoked foods are created in our kitchen by our chefs. We are equally passionate about using fresh seasonal vegetables, and ingredients are delivered daily. A great deal of time is taken in preparation for the arrival of all our guests. Meals are cooked to order and supported by wines from the cellars of well-renowned Berkmann Wines.
Fine mouth-watering examples of our menu include fresh scallops on a bed of pea puree, confit cherry tomatoes and pheasant breast stuffed with black pudding which can be complemented with our artisan cheese platter or, to cleanse your palate, a lemon sorbet with a shot of Belvedere Vodka. You’ll find our most exciting dishes listed on our ‘daily specials’ board. We are conscious of our country’s depleting fish stocks and make every effort to use more sustainable species as specials which we hope you’ll agree can be found more flavoursome and offer a much greater variety.
At the Bell House we are proud to support British farming and hope you share our ethos of supporting local producers and suppliers sharing our passion for Great British Food.
