The Star is a 15th century Inn set in Thaxted, a small country town with a recorded history which dates back to before the Domesday Book. Following an extensive refurbishment but retaining its original period features, The Star is a now a stylish and elegant venue and the ideal place to catch up with friends and family, or entertain business clients for lunch or dinner and enjoy a subtly luxurious culinary experience teamed with our personal service, where modern yet creative dishes are teamed with an excellent wine menu.

Our Head Chef Patrick Livic spends his time sourcing fresh local ingredients and working really hard to make sure everything on our menu is the best possible, continually researching new delicious recipes. Our menus take full advantage of the local, seasonal produce available throughout the year and are accompanied by a wide selection of wines, beers and spirits for you to choose from.

The Star is also available for private functions and wedding receptions, with our large garden and decked seating area, its sure to be a beautiful venue for your special day.
