Welcome to L'Ortolan Restaurant, Shinfield, Reading, Berkshire Relax in stylish and comfortable surroundings and enjoy Tom Clarke's exquisite, contemporary cuisine, exceptional service and a warm welcome.
The elegant listed building that houses L'Ortolan has been home to a handful of world class Michelin starred chefs since it evolved from rectory to restaurant some 37 years ago. The rich culinary history is still entwined with the L'Ortolan experience as traditional values and classic flavour combinations mix with contemporary menus and a relaxed, friendly vibe.

DINING AT L'ORTOLAN
Our one Michelin starred, 3 AA rosette, restaurant seats up to 50 guests and we offer a selection of menus from the lunchtime menu du jour to the more elaborate tasting menus with up to 10 courses. The popular midweek menus and lunchtime offers are great value for an anytime treat. Our sommeliers are on hand to recommend exquisite wine pairings to heighten the enjoyment of your dining experience with us.
INTERACTIVE DINING
Sharing the knowledge and passion for food is very much a part of the L'Ortolan culture. With a Chef's Table just 4 feet from the main pass in the kitchen up to 4 diners can take in the theatre and excitement of our busy kitchen in full service. If that isn't quite close enough to the action we also offer a 'Chef's Experience' where you can spend a day in the kitchen with our talented chefs working with some of the best ingredients available.
PRIVATE DINING
L'Ortolan's Michelin starred cuisine may also be enjoyed in the intimacy of your own private room at no additional charge. Our three stunning private dining rooms are individually styled and seat between 8 to 22 guests - or hire the whole restaurant for exclusive use.
