Queens Head, Ampthill description
Pub / Restaurant
Medium (1-150)
The Queens Head pub in Ampthill is situated on Woburn Street of the picturesque Georgian town. Nearby are some lovely walks in Ampthill Park and the nature reserve at the top of Almeda Walk. Also has some charming individual shops and an Antiques Emporium.
It is a community pub with a village atmosphere, with two cosy bars and a tented smoking area on an outside patio.
It is famous for being featured on the Andrew Marr TV programme and in National News papers during the Jubilee and Royal Wedding events of 2012. Just ask the landlord why and he will be happy to tell you of their activities during this time.
T shirts are available to commemorate your visit to the Queens Head and soon Post Cards will be available as well.
The pub offers a range Real Ale beers from the Charles Wells Brewery and guest ales form around the area, a good selection of lagers and some fine wines. It is a dog friendly pub (except on food festival days see links) so after a healthy walk you and your four legged friend or friends can enjoy a relaxing drink and a bowl of water.
In the past the Landlord has been known to clear heavy downfalls of snow from his regulars door steps to the pub entrance – service with a shovel!!! This service does not extend out side the immediate local area.
A function room is available for meetings, parties and special occasions. Food can be supplied on request. Theirs is a ladies darts team, Quiz Nights, Pie Festivals, Sausage festivals, three legged races through the town, snail racing, live music and many other events through out the year.
