Steeped in history and set amidst spectacular wooded countryside, Launcells Barton is a family-owned, Grade II* listed manor house in Launcells, a small parish situated near Bude in northern Cornwall.

Combining lovingly restored historic buildings with a purpose-built Events Barn, current owners, Matthew and Lara, are fusing old world charm and contemporary design to create a sophisticated venue with timeless appeal.

Matthew’s family have owned Launcells Barton since 1949. He grew up there, surrounded by beautiful countryside and close to the sea. Life on the old dairy farm was idyllic.

Years later, Matthew invited Lara to meet his family and experience the unique charm of his childhood home. With the property in desperate need of restoration and repair, he found himself apologising all the way to Cornwall, afraid that Lara might never warm to a place without central heating! His fears were unfounded; she immediately fell for the house, its myriad of hallways, the grand exterior and the great sense of history contained within its walls.

That evening, the couple embarked on a walk together through the surrounding fields. Armed with a brand new pair of wellies, Lara took Matthew’s hand as he raced up muddy paths towards the top of the farm. Suddenly pointing into the distance, he urged Lara to look out across the horizon. As she watched the sunset over the Cornish sea, she knew Launcells Barton had stolen her heart.

Working tirelessly to restore the house, Matthew and Lara excitedly ushered in a new era at Launcells Barton, finally realising their dream to transform the farm into something special.

Drawing on combined experience in exhibitions, events, property and land management, the couple are creating a spectacular venue that’s perfect for those who crave a tranquil, picturesque setting for their wedding or event.
