Gurrow Point - Marquee Venue description
Marquee Venue

The River Dart is undoubtedly one of Britain’s most beautiful tidal estuaries, which springs from the heart of Dartmoor and flows to the south, through the beautiful South Hams region of Devon. Gurrow Point is situated on the tip of the Dittisham Peninsula, approximately 2 miles up stream from the town of Dartmouth. At this point the river is at its widest, ideal for dinghy sailing, canoeing and windsurfing. There are numerous deep-water moorings nearby making it an excellent place to moor a yacht, with cruising opportunities to Dartmouth and further afield with Torbay and the Solent to the east and Salcombe, Fowey and Falmouth to the west.
The village of Dittisham lies within a Conservation Area and an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. There is a village shop and Post Office, together with two popular pubs and a riverside café. There are further shopping facilities and restaurants in the nearby towns of Dartmouth and Totnes.
Greenway, Agatha Christie’s famous holiday home is just a short ferry ride away across the river, where the Dart Valley Steam Railway runs from Kingswear to Paignton.
Communications are good with the A38 dual carriageway, approximately 15 miles to the north, providing fast access to the M5 motorway at Exeter. There are regular Intercity rail services to London Paddington from nearby Totnes or Exeter and an increasing number of flights to UK and international destinations from Exeter airport.
