Welcome to Gilling West. Our village is 3 miles north of Richmond and 3 miles west of Scotch Corner (A1/A66). It is popular for walking and has its own cricket ground. Bed & breakfast facilities are available and also a caravan park. The Village Hall has a stage, seats a hundred and is much used for theatrical performances, meetings, parties and courses. A section added to the rear - the John Ross Suite - offers facilities for adult learning courses and may be accessed by the disabled.
The village church - St.Agatha's - is sited in the centre of the village and has much history to note. Records confirm that a community existed in proximity to the building before Richmond was established, and it is mentioned in the Domesday Book.
