Ardington House - Exclusive Hire Marquee Venue description
Marquee Venue / Wedding Venue / Business Meeting Rooms / Hotel / Conference Centre / Party Venue
Large (1-300)
Ardington House is a stately home venue in Oxfordshire which is available for events throughout the year. We offer bookings for weddings, private hire stays and corporate retreats. The marquee seats up to 200 guests and smaller parties can be accommodated within the house. The House is a listed Georgian manor set in formal gardens and parkland that includes a river with its own island. Built in 1720, the House has a rich history with many famous figures staying here over the centuries. Today, while still feeling like a family home, it is a stunning location for weddings, corporate events, private parties and is a classic English setting for film location work.
Ardington House is 75 minutes from central London, 45 minutes from London Heathrow airport and 25 minutes from Oxford and Newbury. Situated a few miles from the Ridgeway hills where King Alfred successfully fought back the Danes in 871 AD and the market town of Wantage where the King is famously rumoured to have burned the cakes, Ardington is a pretty village tucked away from sight but close to the major routes from London to the South West.
Once home to Lord Wantage, the first winner of the Victoria Cross at the Battle of the Alma (1854) for the Scots Guards in defence of the Colours, the House and village have links to the Crimea War which can be seen even today. Following a major refurbishment programme in 2013, Ardington House is now one of the finest and most comfortable country houses in southern England.
