When the Timpson group bought what was the Maelog Lake Hotel in 2009, we intended to use the building as an additional holiday home for our colleagues to have a break from working in one of our 950 shops across the UK and Ireland. Like all good plans, things can change! Following a visit to ‘Fifteen’, our chief executive, James decided that this site would make an ideal location for a chef academy, helping local young people fulfil their dreams. So, The Oyster Catcher, a restaurant, chef’s academy and social enterprise was born.
