Norton House Country Club was originally Norton House, built in 1623 by Morewood of Oakes Park. From this time through to the mid 1800’s the house was occupied by a series of well do to businessmen including Robert Newton who raised a troop of horse to defend George II against the Stuarts, in addition to introducing a process of refining precious metals in Sheffield.
