Medium (1-150)
Carharrack Sports & Social Club evolved from the village’s Mechanics Institute which was built in 1841. It was originally used as a reading room, however by the 1960s locals gathered here to regularly play card games, darts, snooker and billiards and it became known as Carharrack Sports and Social Club. An extension in 1972 provided better facilities and the club’s popularity grew.
In December 1980 storms caused partial damage to the institute and the club relocated to larger facilities further along Chapel Terrace. The committee at the time, along with a group of passionate locals, volunteered their time and skilled services to building the new site. The new Carharrack Sports and Social Club was opened on 18 December 1981 where it still remains today. An extension was built in 1990 to provide an additional private function room with a large dance floor.
