Situated a short distance from the edge of the Exmoor National Park, Bratton Fleming is about seven miles from the regional centre of North Devon, Barnstaple at a height of between about 550 and 650 feet above sea level.
In spite of its proximity to Barnstaple. Bratton still has a working village shop, the post office visits five times a week (in the Baptist Church) and there is still a pub (although it has been closed for over a year, news of its recent sale has encouraged speculation that it may soon open again)
