Platt Memorial Hall Poppies
Platt is a small village midway between Sevenoaks and Maidstone in the Weald of Kent. The impact of the First World War on this small rural community was immense as more than 40 families lost loved ones in the horrors of that conflict.

Following the war it was felt that a memorial to those who had died should be erected in the village and it was decided that it should be incorporated into a village hall that would serve as a focal point for community activities. A local landowner donated a parcel of land, funding to build the hall was raised through public donations and, on November 18th 1922, Platt Memorial Hall was officially opened. On the northern face of the building is a permanent memorial to those who died. It incorporates a plaque manufactured by a local resident, H. G. Murphy, a major figure in the Arts and Crafts and Art Deco movements in this country. The plaque lists the names of 45 men who died in the conflict.
