The Strathspey Railway invites you and your guests to explore the stunning Scottish Highlands in a way like no other! Our historic steam and vintage diesel engines (dating back to the late 1800s) take you on a truly scenic trip between Aviemore, Boat of Garten and Broomhill, steaming through the UK’s largest National Park.
We have three carriage options available for your special visit. Accommodating 112 guests, our newly refurbished Fine Dining coaches offer a truly vintage setting for you. This set holds private kitchen and bathroom facilities and is the location for our Three and Four course Traditional Sunday Lunch and Fine Evening Dining services. You can select these menus for your visit, or, our Head Chef would be happy to discuss your bespoke requirements for the day.
Our Officer's Saloon carriage offers a much more intimate setting. This carriage, built in 1944, was originally used by senior rail management to host special guests and many of the original features have been maintained, including original umbrella stands and coat hangers which really capture the vintage spirit of this carriage. And your private Guard, Chef and Waiting Service will accompany you and your guests (seats a maximum of 18).
Our Daily Set can accommodate a maximum of 300 guests, should you wish to host a large-scale event.
All of the food you taste on board has been prepared by the award winning Prep Catering. Prep Catering is delighted to work with a range of local businesses and this forms part of our sustainable ethos. The larder on our doorstep provides the best of Scottish produce with our meat supplied from Grant’s of Speyside Highland butchers – located only 20 minutes away from Aviemore Station. Vegetables are supplied from a range of Scottish farms located within 20 miles of our railway and our Salmon comes from Ullapool where it is smoked locally. 40% of our alcoholic beverages are brewed and distilled here in the Highlands. We are proud to work with our local communities to help showcase their outstanding products.
Our heritage Stations also provide an ideal location for some musical performances before/between your arrival and departure services.
