Glen Ord Distillery
A visit to Glen Ord, the nearest distillery to Inverness & Loch Ness in the Highlands of Scotland, is a delight to both the eye and the palate. Join us on a tour of the distillery and watch our distillers at work creating a magical malt whisky which is sweet, malty and dry on the palate.
Our whisky The Singleton of Glen Ord is for selected Asian markets only and at our Visitor Centre and Whisky Shop. However, it is not available elsewhere in the UK or Europe. The Singleton of Glen Ord is a rich, smooth-tasting, well-balanced whisky with distinctive packaging. For the new Singleton of Glen Ord, a higher proportion of the liquid has been matured in European oak, delivering a rich, smooth-tasting, well-rounded style.
Glen Ord distillery was founded in 1838, making it one of the oldest in Scotland. Situated on the edge of the Black Isle west of Inverness, Glen Ord continues to malt its own barley and to use the long fermentation and slow distillation methods followed there for generations.
From Glen Ord distillery it is a short drive to a wide variety of attractions. To learn about the history of the area visit Dingwall or Inverness museums, Culloden Battlefield and Fort George. For castles it is only a short drive to Urquhart Castle on the shores of Loch Ness with Cawdor, Dunrobin & Eilean Donan Castles also worth a visit. For nature lovers trips to the National Nature Reserve at Glen Affric and dolphin watching at Channory Point, Fortrose are highlights.
