The Learning Loft is an educational space linked to the museum and its primary purpose is to host learning sessions connected to the museum displays and the collections. However the Learning Loft is available for corporate/external use at ‘off-peak’ times.

The Loft space is flexible, with seating for up to 44 people in lecture style rows, or with chairs and tables which can be moved for breakout sessions. The University’s Catering Services can deliver and clear away teas, coffees, lunches etc. to the Loft. You are welcome to use the urn to make your own tea and coffee; however, tea, milk etc. should be brought along by the organiser. There is a full range of AV equipment including projector, screen, PC, Visualiser and SMART board in addition to a flipchart and pens.

Capacity

As meeting room:

40

Use of the galleries can be combined with booking the Learning Loft space. Drinks receptions can be set up in the galleries (white wine only) when the museum is closed to the public and for these type of events the University’s Catering Services should be utilised.

All food should remain upstairs in the Learning Loft including any canapés or nibbles. If the event is to have an admission fee and alcohol is being served, an alcohol licence must be obtained at least 6 weeks prior to the event being held (organised by MUSA staff). The cost of the licence is around £10. Events being held out-with museum opening hours, and at weekends, will be subject to staff availability.
