Walmgate Ale House and Bistro is set in a 17th century listed building in the centre of York which boasts a long history and a few ghost stories!

The Ale House on the ground floor offers a range of Yorkshire Ales, Lagers and Cider as well as an extensive Wine List. Relax in our Snug and enjoy our Bar Snacks, which include Sausage Rolls, Pork Pies and Yorkshire Cheeses.

The second floor and Loft space house our Bistro which serves homemade dishes using quality Yorkshire produce, sourced directly from the fields to our restaurant in York. From a light bite to a hearty comforting dish, there is something for everyone to enjoy. The Bistro also serves brunch from 9.30am on a weekend and Sunday Lunch every Sunday from 12pm.

The Loft space is the perfect place for a party or large gathering and our pre designed party menus give you plenty of options to please everyone.
