Welcome to Macdonald Cardrona Hotel, Golf & Spa, set in the Scottish Borders yet close to the capital city, Edinburgh.

Since I joined the hotel in January 2013, I have had the pleasure of welcoming guests from all over the world who come to the area for golf, shooting, fishing and of course world class mountain biking at Glentress.

I have a fantastic team at the hotel, most of whom live very locally, so they are always on hand to offer tips or advice for places to visit in the area. I believe there's nothing like a Scottish welcome when visiting a hotel. At the moment our team are hard at work on many projects including ourcompany-wide Room 15 initiative, which aims at reducing our carbon footprint.

I have always worked in hotels, starting off with a school job washing dishes in my local hotel in Portpatrick. After a brief spell in the kitchen whilst studying Hospitality Management at Napier University, I then went to work in various hotels in Yorkshire, Cheshire and back home in Scotland. At home (and work) I love to golf, although I'm not sure I'm getting any better. My home life revolves around my wife, Kate and son and daughter, James and Sophie. With James' involvement in pro-youth football I regularly travel the length and breadth of the country. Our busy house is completed with three cats and young Cocker Spaniel.
