Royal Worlington has been regularly listed amongst the top 100 courses in Britain and Ireland, by Golf Monthly, and has the reputation of being the greatest 9-hole course in England, if not the world; Bernard Darwin described it as 'The Sacred Nine', which is the title of its history written by John Gillum in 1993 for the Club's centenary.Royal Worlington is also the home club to the Cambridge University Golf Team, The Light Blues, a tradition that dates back to when the Club was formed in 1893. The first CUGC Captain listed on the Cambridge Captains' Board which hangs in the Clubhouse, is none other than Harry Colt who was a prolific Golf Course designer many years ago.
