Doune Castle description

Castle

Large (1-300)

Weddings / Events

A magnificent late 14th century courtyard castle with towering battlements looking down over the River Teith and out towards the Menteith Hills and Ben Lomond. Doune Castle was famously the setting for the film, Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

Built for the Regent Albany, its most striking feature is the keep-gatehouse which includes the splendid Lord’s Hall with its musicians’ gallery, double fireplace and carved oak screen.

All this and more makes Doune Castle an unforgettable setting for a wedding.
