The Black Dog, Dorchester description
Pub / Restaurant
Medium (1-150)
The Black Dog Inn is situated approximately 4 miles east of Dorchester on the A352. Broadmayne is a rural village close to the Olympic sailing venue of Weymouth and Jurrasic coast with the world famous Chesil Beach leading to Portland. The village is surrounded by open countryside offering some spectacular views and a choice of easy or challenging rambles. We are also close to the Dorset village of Moreton, where Lawrence of Arabia is laid to rest. We have accommodation available for those wishing to explore Moreton in greater depth.
In December 2014 the pub opened the doors of the bar to the village of Broadmayne after being closed refurbished, just in time for those Christmas celebrations
Earlier in 2014 the pub, which dates back to 1851, was bought from Punch Taverns by a local family who set about a refurbishment and rebuilding schedule. The pub will have 6 letting bedrooms from 2015 and a spacious dining area where tasty home cooked pub grub meals are served using the finest ingredients from local suppliers in Dorset; yet still retaining the charm of a village inn.
For those sunny Dorset days we have a large beer garden with a childrens play area and pride ourselves on being a family friendly pub
